What Getaround provides is a peer-to-peer carsharing.
For a price as little as $6 hour, users can rent cars from neighbors or people nearby by the hour, day or week. The company stresses the environmental impact of the venture. It's also a good way to make some extra money if you have a car that isn't used often.
The company provides insurance and screening of drivers for car owners. For users they have a feedback section. The system works with a kit that's installed in the car that can be operated with a smartphone.
