The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has an interactive tool that determines some of the best places to live in the world. The countries are most all in "The West" with Japan and South Korea thrown in as well. Basically, 34 countries. OECD calls it "The Better Life Initiative."
OECD is an organization the began after World War II, with it's genesis in the Marshall Plan.
Basically, you fill in eleven areas of interest, on a five point scale of lowest to highest. Housing, Jobs, community, safety, work life balance etc. From there you get a readout of what country fits your lifestyle. Wear your glasses, the type is a little small.
Are you considering the life of an expat, or just want an adventure for the next few years? This is a fun tool.
