This is a business concept that could only work in a place like New York City. That's because the business and it's location are a secret. Brazenhead Books has been described as a secret gem. Oh plenty of people know about it. But Brazenhead has grown by whisper instead of having a big storefront and big ads.
The owner, Michael, a lifelong bookseller decided to open the space, which sells secondhand books, after he realized that leasing commercial space was cost prohibitive. To enter his space, you have to be rung in. That's because the store is in a residential building. The reason it's a secret is just that; Brazenhead Books is not permitted to operate in that space.
This is a wonderful video done by Andrew Watson on Michael and his secret business.
