It's so easy to trash BP now. Like here, or here, or here (I love Kimmel). Good Stuff. But what I haven't seen is a real push to get the US, currently the largest user of fossil fuels, off of them. Where is the national effort to move us to a sustainable, environmentally responsible alternative. Yea!
Stop bitching...Here it is.
The weekly Presidential radio / webcast today was a good start. In his plan to bring new industries to the US, Obama announced that the administration will invest $2 billion dollars in loan guarantees for two companies. Spain's Abengoa Solar, which will build one of the world's largest solar plant in Arizona, creating 1,600 construction jobs and providing power for 70,000 homes. Colorado's Abound Solar Manufacturing, which is building plants in Colorado and Indiana, will ramp up production of their thin film solar panels. The move will create thousands of permanent jobs once the construction is complete.
This is what I know. Germany is the worlds leader in producing solar power for it's citizens. They also rank number 1 for wind power. Germany is followed by a list of countries that are making the conversion to alternatives more of a priority than the US.
Not anymore. USA! USA! Ok, maybe it's a small start, but it's a real start, with real money. I'm looking forward to the day that we can all stand on America's coastline and moon all those countries that hate us but provided oil that eventually, we will no longer need.
