Barking Dog Chocolatiers Mixes Artisanal Treats With Helping Others.

"There's not much that makes people happier than thinking about chocolate"

"Oh that's neat. I want to work with that." That's how Joel Fischer describes his discovery of the art of making chocolate. Fisher, a retired doctor who with his wife, Deborah Langsam, a retired botanist, create chocolate treats.  Their company is Barking Dog Chocolatiers in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The interesting part?  The money that they make from their boxes of hand crafted chocolate doesn't go into their pockets, but rather a charitable organization that Joel created called Support Works. The organization helps people find medical information and form support groups to help with whatever problem they're having, whether it's a medical or social.  Barking Dog's motto? "Every bite is a donation to local charity"

Founded in 2000, at the urging of friends who had been enjoying their artisanal chocolate for several years before. Below is a video on Joel and Debbie's sweet second act.
