A group of filmmakers has gotten together to remake a classic before Hollywood did.
The remake of the 1984 film "Footloose" is scheduled for release in October. A group of young filmmakers were so annoyed with yet another Hollywood remake of a classic film, they decided to remake it themselves. With no budget, 54 filmmakers from the U.S. and Canada broke the original story into 54 scenes - each scene created in the filmmakers own style. From the Footloose Remake website:
"In October 2008 it was announced that Paramount Pictures and Dylan Sellers Productions would be remaking the classic Footloose, starring Zac Efron. We were fed up. The Hollywood remake machine was going to take another solid movie, put it through the ringer, and make a buck from a younger generation. We decided “Let’s beat them to the punch. Let’s do this remake our way."
The film segments were completed last summer and then put together. It's been shown at private screenings. It's just been put on-line. Some scenes are done straight - some badly - and some definitely on acid.
